Jumping over bushes and chasing lions

The event start time was at 6PM. At 6:15 PM we had all our Chi Alpha students and staff there, but no guests. Um...I know that African students can tend to be late but...so we went out into the hallways and started to invite some stray students in. I went up to one guy and said, "Do you have any dinner plans?" By the shocked look on his face, I realized that I a 42 year old woman had inadvertently asked a college student out. I changed my tactics. Haha! We gathered about 10 students from the halls.

At about 6:30, the African students started trickling in. We had an amazing time with them and 5 of them signed up for more info on Chi Alpha. We learned traditional African dance. This white girl's thighs still hurt today from "jumping over bushes and chasing lions."

This is the first event that we have had catered by the school. I always cook the food with the help of the students for all of our events no matter if we are serving 20 or 200 but the school required it this time. I was a little lost as to what to do with myself when I didn't have to cook or clean up. I was in awe as the catering crew came in and set up those shiny chafing dishes, and then I got to leave them with the dirty dishes afterwards. For an acts of service girl, this was a true Valentine's day gift. Thank you to all of our supporters that paid for the event. What an amazing Valentine's gift!
