I'm a "front-porch kind of person"
Sitting on our super "uncomfy" concrete front porch, pondering upgrading to more comfortable seating, I mentioned to my mother-in-law, that I am a "front-porch kind of person."
This week was a front-porch kind of week, which we must admit the world has been quite devoid of lately. Therefore this week was like a slice of Heaven for me. Why?
It was full of my most favorite things: people, coffee, deep conversations, laughter, unity, celebrating sameness, celebrating non-sameness, and a whole lot of love. There is nothing I love more than knowing people and letting them know me. Know being a much deeper word than its common meaning. I figure all of these things occur quite naturally on the front porch and maybe not as naturally on the back porch.
I do realize, however, after my joy tank was overflowing, I was quite desperate for some back porch - alone with Jesus and a cup of joe time. I realize this, not because I necessarily yearn for it or prefer it, but because I am keenly aware of what occurs when I hang out on the front porch all the time and neglect the back porch. It's not pretty.
When running a comparative analysis against a "back-porch kind of person," in spreadsheet form of course, because all deep thought should be done in spreadsheets, here are my expert conclusions:
I need both.
You do, too.
